In Quebec, Canada, in the historic countryside and villages of New France! This is the 7th year of the pilgrimage, and it will take place this year from September 4-6. This is a pilgrimage based on the medieval model - banners, flags, chanting, singing, praising, Mass, rosary, bonding, and lots of walking, toward a shrine. The shrine in this case is that of Our Lady of the Cape, which is the National Marian Shrine of Canada. The statue in the old chapel opened its eyes to Blessed Frederic Jansoone and two other witnesses in the late 19th century. Another miracle occurred when an ice bridge formed over the water to allow workers to transport stone to build a new church. Our Lady of the Cape was proclaimed Queen of Canada at a coronation by Pope John Paul II.
Marie Reine du Canada is the lay led organization, much like France’s Notre Dame de Chretiente, which sets up the pilgrimage. Every year there are around 100 people and it is always growing, mostly through many youths. Pilgrims come from all over North America.
