I think, but I am not sure, that it is morally permissible to take artificial birth control pills for acne and female problems, yes? I am not sexually active (I’m not married).

I have bad acne (as well as, er, other problems) and I really want it helped. But at the same time, I feel a little hesitant about using BCP. I think that it might be wrong to support a drug company who contributes to things I find immoral.

What do you think? I am wondering if my conscience is right, or if I’m just being too cautious.

Thank you,
Dove51

As long as you’re not sexually active, you’re not committing any sin by taking ABC. However, ABC can cause complications with your fertility down the road. If you can find an alternative method of dealing with your acne, I strongly encourage you to do so. Go with your feelings of hesitancy, that’s your conscience talking to you. Listen to it. There are better ways.

As for your other female problems, definitely do not use ABC to deal with those. Find a good doctor, and believe me that means shop around. A lot. A good endocrinologist specializing in reproductive health is worth their weight in gold. OBgyn’s are trained to be surgeons, not scientists. You don’t want to be without one in the delivery room for sure, but they’re not always the most helpful choice when it comes to reproductive health in general.

God bless, and take good care of yourself!

This site tells the truth about all the side effects of ABC also.
Like Bee Sweet said, there are other alternatives.
After you read this, you may not even care if you have acne.

The Pill can be taken for legitimate medical reasons without it being immoral. The thing is that is pretty rare these days and the side effects and risks with the pill are not small although they tend to be glossed over by medical professional.

Look into other methods of treatment if you can. Really study all the risks and side effects of taking the pill. Really pay attention to the warnings that the medical profession is choosing to ignore that the pill is related to infertility in women.

I would suggest looking for a good doctor to deal with your ‘female’ problems. My daughter had many ‘female problems’ that were taken care of without the use of the pill.

As far as a control for acne … what do boys take??? Of course it’s not the pill …

Just a thought. 🙂

Dove51~ You’ve received some great information. Please consult with a NaProTECHNOLOGY (NPT) medical consultant or NFP-only health care provider. You can contact the Pope Paul VI Institute to learn more about NPT and locate a medical consultant or One More Soul to locate a NFP-only provider. BTW, One More Soul lists NPT too. I completed the NFP Nurse Practitioner program through the Institute, and NPT is an alternative approach to Women’s Health.

If you give further consideration to the pill, please review the risks and side effects carefully. The pillkills.com linked above provides some of the risks/side effects of the pill (just note it also lists risks associated with Depo 🤷 which is an entirely different beast but for the most part pillkills is accurate), BUT these are not all the risks/side effects. As allhers said, “you may not even care if you have acne” after you review this info.
