For those who don’t speak italian, the above is an article from the Corriere della Sera. Apparently the mother who was 22 weeks pregnant had been told through tests that the baby in her womb was deformed, with various ailments. After aborting the baby, the baby did not die immediately but died later that night from complications of being delivered prematurely, also the baby did not have the deformeties and ailments the doctors had previously indicated the baby had through tests the doctors conducted. Apologies and condolonces have been sent to the mother and her family.
And we wonder why the world is going to ____ in a hand basket.

I have learned from personal experience never to trust a doctor that says that your baby is deformed. There are too many false positives to the tests they do. One test can indicate water on the brain, spina bifida, or multiple births… how many moms do you think aborted 2 or more healthy babies because their doctors told them their babies were deformed?

My friend’s daughter was told her baby would be Down’s syndrome, from some test or other. The daughter & hubby decided to stay pregnant and accept whatever came along. My friend and her hubby were FURIOUS with the daughter, saying things like why would they not get an abortion and prevent this baby from being born. Well, the baby was born PERFECT. I’m sure there are many examples of this kind of thing. My own daughter chose not to have any tests for this very reason.

My oldest daughter had great difficulty conceiving. Among other things, she had to have surgery for endiometosis (womb tissue growing outside the womb.) Finally she gave us the great news – she was pregnant.

She would send us the ultrasound pictures of the baby, one that showed a tiny speck, a later one showing it sucking its thumb very early in pregnancy.

Then one day she called and talked to my wife. “Mom, the doctor just called. She wants me to come in for an amneocentisis, because she just got some test results indicating the baby might have Down’s Syndrome.”

There was a long pause, then she said, “Mom, I told her no. The amneocentisis poses some thrreat to the baby – and if it does have Down’s Syndrome, there’s nothing we can do about it, anyway.”

I was never so proud of my daughter!

And our granddaughter was born perfect in every way.😃

Then of course the Drs could be right and you could be carrying a baby with Downs syndrome, and that child will become they joy of your life-like my son. It is wrong to kill babies with or without deformities, they are all God’s children.

The former Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas, Winthrop Rockefeller, had two children with Down’s Syndrome – one of them adopted. He used to tell how after a typical day, when he would get home exhausted and discouraged, those children would come to him, welcome him home and cheer him up. His eyes would shine when he talked about them.

I’ve never met a finer man than Winthrop Rockefeller, God rest his soul.

Amen!!! I have a friend with a child with Down’s syndrome… Absolute sweetheart of a child! She loves everybody, gives me hugs in church when she sees me… makes my day!

So suppose a perfectly healthy baby is injured in a car accident and brain damaged, do we kill it ?.. same thing I’m afraid, the child has a right to be born, the child has a right to Eternal Life.

Jesus put more value on the “soul” than the body, so murder is murder.

The reasoning behind aborting a baby because it may be less than ‘perfect’ is the same reasoning behind the promotion of infanticide and euthanasia of adults.

I have a brother who has Down’s syndrome. He has taught us what it means when we say God’s Love is unconditional.

As a CPC counsellor I have often dealt with women who were told their baby should be aborted because of a disability or deformity, who have given birth to either a healthy baby or one who had problems much less severe than predicted.

A perfect race was Hitler’s dream. It seems he was born before his time. Today he would probably be given a Nobel Prize.

This happened to my SIL, too.

Ultrasound revealed that our second child would be born with a cleft lip and palate. The Dr.s wanted to do all sorts of genetic testing that could have led to a miscarriage. Utlimately they said they wanted to do this so we could “consider our options”.

We told them there were no options at which point we were warned that a cleft can be a sign of complications “incompatible with life”.

Long story short, our child was born with a cleft lip and palate. She has had to endure a heartbreaking series of surgeries and faces more in the future. Still, she is a happy, healthy kid who loves to sing. She could sight read music at the age of five!

Well, so much for incompatible with life.

My nephew has a condition supposedly incompatible with life. The condition he has Thanatophoric dysplasia is suppose to be universally fatal. Most infants die in utero or shortly after birth. It is a type of dwarfism where the ribcage is too small for lung and heart development. You can look it up on the web. He is 1 1/2 years old now. Still is partially tube fed has a trach for breathing. My brother and sister-in-law have 24 hour round the clock nursing care for him but he is at home. She just posted some adorable picture on his website. His name is Samuel whhich they chose because it means God hears. They are not Ctholic but very religious. They had some wonderful support from some Catholic nurses in the hospital. Oh did I mention the doctors had at one time told her he would be severly mentally handicapped, probably would never smile etc. Well you can see they were wrong. He is surprising the doctors every day. Here is his website.

Awwwww, deanarrca…he looks like such a happy baby!

I think killing because of a birth defect is horrible. And I am not Catholic either. You know, that is what Hitler did before he put his plan into action on a massive scale, he first killed the old, sick, and the handicapped living in state homes. The babies born from Hitler’s Lebensborn project were also looked at carefully upon emerging from the womb, if they were “defective” they were killed instantly.

It is a sign of a sick society in my eyes. And you guys are right. They are wrong many times anyway. And if not soo what? Does that mean they have no value? Beethoven was a great composer and pretty fly for a deaf guy.

The docs wanted me to have an abortion, they would get permission because of the how far I was. I refused. He was premature but fine. No nueral tube birth defects like they said he would have. He was so healthy that the 8 to 12 weeks they projected him to be in the UCI ended up being only 2 weeks. And he peed all over the same doctors…HEHEHEHEH

Another relative almost went for an abortion because they said he would be a Downs baby, she changed her mind, and he was born perfect.

Wanted to add, I also have another little boy who was born perfect, but became brain damaged by his MMR shot. But he has taught me much about this world, about love and trust. One day I am going to write a story about him.

Happened to me - I refused the amnio after being told my baby had all the “signs” of Down Syndrome via ultrasound, so I was told I had to sign a waiver saying that I was informed of my “options” - an abortion.
My DS was born perfectly healthy.

My son developed Type 1 Diabetes from the MMR.

**issues Pro-life urban legends

**An urban legend is one of those stories that makes the rounds and develops a life of its own, even though it really isn’t true. There are a number of them that pop up from time to time on one side of the abortion debate or the other — and sometimes both. Here’s the real deal about a number of false statements:
