Does anybody know of a comprehensive review of the studies that have been done on this? I have only been able to find articles presented by idealogues on both sides, and I don’t know how balanced they are. If somebody can point me to a fairly balanced and thorough article, I would appreciate it.

The book **Breast Cancer, Its link to abortion and the birth control pill ** by Dr. Kris Kahlenborn is good. Also, Dr. Joel Brind is an expert in this field, and has articles and books available. Both of these people are MDs, and are qualified on the topic.

Actually, Brind is a professor at CUNY. He’s a Ph.D (Biochemistry), not an M.D.

There was a thread on this awhile back. It’s archived here: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=16079

I, personally, avoid books as comprehensive reviews and look for reviews published in peer-reviewed journals. As far as studies go, below is a list of the ones that I think carry the most weight (i.e., are conducted with the least disputable scientific design).

Tang, MT, et al. (2000). Induced abortion in relation to breast cancer among parous women. Epidemiology, 11: 177-180.

Lindefors-Harris, B-M., et al. (1994). Risk of cancer of the breast after legal abortion during first trimester. BMJ, 299: 1430-1432.

Thanks for the correction. I thought he was an MD as well as a PhD.
