Ok, I read the article.
Seems to be saying that efforts at population control have had negative side effects. Steven W. Mosher addresses some concerns.
How about this.
1.Are you ready to adopt the child born to someone that should not raise the child, for whatever reason?
2.Some mothers and fathers do not want their babies. What should be done about this?
3.When a child is abused, lets say at 9 years old, and cannot be sent home to his family, are you willing to finish raising him?
Here is what I’d do-
1.Sterilize the biological parents and get the kid adopted out. I am to old to adopt.
2.Make child abandonment a crime, 18 years in prison.
3.Again I am too old. But get him out of the environment he was in.
Tough isn’t it? But unless we are willing to sacrifice for our faith, and that means being willing to fix things, we should just shut up.

Making child abandonment a crime just means more babies in dumpsters, or buried out in the woods.
The humane approach is don’t ask, don’t tell: have a child you can’t raise? Drop it at the hospital or police station, give it a chance for a decent life.

Interesting thread…thank you for starting it.
Some believe that the underpopulation in this country in terms of the economy, paying taxes and social security, can only be solved by the influx of masses of people; thus the reason for the lax immigration policies of this administration and the push for a North American Union between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
On the other hand, I would say the globalists have an interesting problem because they not only espouse the dissolution of the sovereignty of this country (which would increase the population,) but also the United Nations policies of a reduction in the population through abortion, sterilization and euthanasia. There is even a current thought that the legislative push for non-traditional marriages and the gay agenda is to further aid in population control.
These are just random thoughts from articles and political forums I have read. Be assured, however, that with the passage of FOCA and an even more blatant disregard for human life, there will soon follow more aggresive means to rid the planet of the non-productive segment of society. I’m taking that personally!

Don’t be fooled for a second by the “How many have YOU adopted?” objection. Try these on for size, “Upset with overcrowded prisons? Well, have you volunteered one of your rooms in your house to be retrofitted into a jail cell to house a prisoner?” OR imagine a slave owner saying to the abolitionist, “Don’t like slavery? Well how many slaves are you willing to give me fair market value for? If you buy them you can free them.” (I think pro-slavers actually made a very similar argument). And finally, there is an actual example. Jim Caviezel was challanged by a pro-choicer who said he’d be pro-life if Jim adopted. He did. Last I heard the pro-choicer reneged.

Perhaps the best experience any of us can have is the birth of a child. I wish everybody could have a life where that is what God intended for it to be.
Sadly, many people do not have that experience.
As Catholics, we cannot force others to do what we want. God does not force people to do things either. People have always done things to mess up their lives. Lets call that sin.
Sin hurts the sinner, and society. It seems like this country has lost sight of the hurt that it endures when people sin. With abortion, I’ll bet there are many hurts that are inflicted on society that we are not aware of. If we were maybe abortion would be illegal.
