**Christchurch, New Zealand (LifeNews.com) – **A new study conducted in New Zealand finds women who have abortions are more likely to become severely depressed. The report confirms the results of a comprehensive study in 2004 in the U.S. showing abortion leads to a host of mental health problems.

The New Zealand study found that having an abortion as a young woman raises the risk of developing mental health problems such as depression and anxiety.

I know this anecdotally…I have been counseling women for 8 years at a pro-life crisis pregnancy center. Most, if not all, of my clients suffer emotional problems after abortion. Women, 20 years after their abortions, have cried when I’ve asked them how it went for them. From what I see, the pain is very close to the surface, even years later. Many tell me they are haunted by what they did and that they think about their babies all the time. I know that it is a lie to say that abortion helps women. It does not. I also know it does not help men. Men cry when they talk about abortion with me, too. Abortion is a terrible, heinous crime against humanity.
