About the assembling of the Scriptures

I wanted to open this thread since another thread was closed for going off topic. Hopefully we all can stay on topic this time.

Another poster had said this in reply to the assembly of the Scriptures:
After three hundred and some years the Holy Spirit wanted a written Word assembled so he had the Church at that time assemble the writings that he considered to be the Word of God. Now any word that contradicts the written Word is not of God.

Here are my questions in return:

What Church was it that assembled the writings?? And what did the Christians up to that point do wothout a Bible to turn to? Did they just stumble about blindly or did they follow the Church’s oral teaching (in other words Tradition)?

If the Holy Spirit guided the Church to infallibly teach the early Christians, to infallibly write the books of the New Testament and to infallibly select the books that belonged in the New Testament canon, and if Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit upon them and told them the Holy Spirit would guide them into all truth (Jn. 16:13) and that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church (Mat. 16:18) and that He would be with them to the end of the age (Mat. 28:20) then don’t you think that the Church continued to have these things even after the selection of the canon? To say otherwise is to call Jesus a liar. To say otherwise is to say that the gates of hell did prevail against the Church. To say otherwise is to say that the Holy Spirit did not in fact guide the Church into all truth. To say otherwise is to say that Jesus left His Church unguided, contrary to what He promised. You aren’t saying that are you??

Hopefully I can get some answers this time…
 
Well, Maria, after seeing the new status of the poster in question, we may never know the answers…
 
I do not think that you are going to get the same convoluted answers from a postestant that you would get from a catholic.

:rotfl: That is an amazingly funny and ironic response.

Yet no attempt to answer?

Is it so hard to actually admit that the Church under which the Holy Spirit guided the assembling of inspired scripture was Catholic?

Or will there be some convolted attempt like the Trail of Tears or saying that the Catholic Church is no longer the same Church found that assembled scripture and somehow stopped being the pillar and foundation of Truth contrary to scripture?

Too bad, I was looking forward to the discussion especially with that person:( .

And although I realize the reasons were probably due to the fact that the person had an agenda and would not really actually answer any challenges given to them, unfortunately, the poster will probably go back to their church talking about how they were banned because the Catholics could not stand the light of truth from the Holy Spirit.

The fact that even our friendly baptist friend above would disagree with much of what they said, just would not faze them.
