If there are not so near occasions of sin, like bad music or bad books, in which I’m sure I’ll not do the sin, cause I can control myself and my mind, am I still obligated to avoid them?

I never heard the expression, “near occaison of sin” until I started reading CAF… anyways… Carry on.

Near occasion of sin is a subjective concept. What might be a near occasion of sin for one person may not be for another. Trust your conscience to tell you when the danger is certain and avoid it.

The near occasion of sin shows up in some versions of the Act of Contrition.

“I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more, and to avoid the near occasion of sin.”

This was in the version I learned as a child, and I still use.
