I was actually more worried about this than an early baby. Silly, but true.

It all worked out for the best. We were both exhausted from the whole weekend. From the bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal, and the wedding/reception. We went to bed super early because of Aunt Flow being in town…we didn’t wake up until it was almost check out time, the next day.

Strikes me as an odd question to put to a priest, noting there is no bad option, and the decision hangs entirely on your preparedness for an early pregnancy.

Many spiritual directors and priests offer help in discernment whether or not there is a clear good/evil choice to be made.

I offered that suggestion not because I think one option or the other may be sinful, but because the priest may have some perspective on this particular couple’s situation that we here–not being face-to-face with them–would not have.

That’s considerably uncommon. One wouldn’t know that would happen ahead of time. I think most people would just put down a towel if they were worried about frightening the housekeeping, though I’m certain they’ve seen everything.

That still doesn’t stop my DW and I…she’s the one who puts down layers of towels on the bed and that time of the month doesn’t stop her.

A serious reason is a serious reason. If you need to wait to consummate your marriage it’s not the end of the world. Lots of couples actually plan to have sex on their wedding night and just end up actually falling asleep as soon as they get to the room. Weddings are exhausting.
