You know the financial abuses never really got publicized the way the sex scandals did, what does everything make of all this?
It makes me question why I want to be a Catholic priest all the more.

A man who truly believes in God and in his own role as an alter Christus does not do this. Yet so many have abused children, gotten into homosexual and heterosexual relationships, stolen money, sold drugs, you name it! Why? And why so many? What robs so many priests off their faith? Will I lose my faith? 😦

Because my children need shepherds like you!🙂

You know that God will only allow you to suffer if it could bring you to greater glory, i.e. to come back home to Him. You will make mistakes, probably none like those, but you have to just nail yourself to that cross every day just! You think of all the priests that have done the bad things you have mentioned, but think about all the terrible things husbands do to their wives and families! Adultery, pornography, abuse, neglect, etc. Those rates make the incidents of scandal amongst priests look insignificant.
And remember, if you start doubting in your faith, you can come to us here at the forums to reaffirm!

Because you never hear about the priest who’s, concerned, asks you if your Grandmother has been anointed when he hears shey’s sick. Because you never hear about the priest who faithfully sits in the confessional to hear every confession, long past the set hours or even if nobody is there. Because you never hear about the priest who faithfully keeps to the GIRM and who encourages his congregation to dress modestly, attend mass, and live as Christians. And because you never hear about the priest who will leave his home to come and invest a group in the scapular when another can’t make it, or is always available for questions about the Faith, especially from RCIA candidates.

Sorry for my mini-rant, but I thought you needed to hear they’re out there, even if it’s only the priests at St. Mary’s.
