The saying, accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior.

Who came up with this? Really. I did a search in the Douay Rheims Bible and there nothing in Scripture that says that.

I have seen, Roman 10:9 being use to justify this:

9 For if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him up from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Though nothing says of it. I have seen from Scripture that we ought to be repent and be baptized.

I like to know the historical background. I know the idea is product of American Protestantism.
