I don’t think EC’s disagree with the Pope’s supreme authority either. They want to fulfill the wishes of Vatican II itself and be self-governing Particular Churches in union with Rome.

And Rome is OK with this.

My dear friend in Christ, you admirably are an EC who believes in all of those teachings. But as I said in an earlier post I am sure who and I, as practicing EC, know of at least a few EC who reject these dogmas. A perfect example is the OP.

Well, I think that in a kind of conversation as we’re having here, people will, shall we say, solidify their arguments in a way they wouldn’t otherwise do.

All that the Roman Church teaches, as Aramis has enunciated so very well, has always been part of the EC heritage. The RC teachings, in fact, teach us nothing that we don’t already affirm through the Fathers and our liturgical tradition “lex orandi, lex credendi.”

In fact, Eastern Catholics and Eastern Orthodox may accuse Rome of rejecting certain points affirmed by the Seven Ecumenical Councils such as no additions to the Nicene Creed, the way to caculate the Easter date, no fasting on Saturdays etc.

So I would like to know what Apostolic dogma Eastern Catholics are being accused of not holding - remembering that Latin Catholic expressions, even when contained in infallible pronouncements, remain just that.
