We got a medical bill for someone else. It was addressed to our address, but the name is someone I’m not familiar with. We previously got mail from the local hospital for this man and returned it to sender.

Well this afternoon I was ripping through the mail trying to get it done quickly and before I knew it, I opened his $100 diagnostic imaging bill. Boy, if I were rich I’d love to just pay it for him! 🙂 Wouldn’t that be neat? But that’s out of the question for us right now.

What should I do? I ripped the envelope pretty badly, although I suppose I could try to tape it together and return it to sender (it would be very obvious that it has been opened, though :o).

I’d call the hospital and explain that you are receiving bills for someone who does not live at your address. Then I’d toss it. 👍

I’d tear it up or shred it before I tossed it, so the gentleman would not be a victim of identity theft.
