According to the Bible are the Jews still the only chosen people?

Are Jews still considered to be the only chosen people according to the New Testament?

And with Christ and whatever else is involved are gentiles considered just as chosen as the Jewish people now according to the New Testament?

I don’t understand the covenants and the Jewish people. How does the New Covenant apply to the Jewish people? And how does it apply to gentiles? Since it’s also meant for gentiles how would the Jews still be considered the only chosen people?

The Bible says that “there is no one Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, for we are ALL one in Christ Jesus.” As part of the new covenant, there is no one preferred race over another, we are ALL God’s heirs of salvation.

Well, according to St. Paul in Roman chapter 11, yes. For the election of the Jews (in this regard, I mean it as descendant of the patriarch Israel) is simply grace from God.

From Roman 11, we can say that trough Christ, we gentile Christians are branches that are glued to the trunk of Israel. We are not a new tree groomed to replace the old trunk of Israel.

There is no more separation between gentiles and Israel descendants, not because we are now becoming a new kind of tree, but because the gentiles, as branches from foreign trees, now too is become Israel because we are glued to the trunk of Israel, co-heir of Abraham.

Hardness of heart in the Israel part is a moment of grace for gentiles, for because of that, we are given grace to receive the Good News.

But St. Paul said, in that chapter, the time will come when the old branches of Israel will be once again glued to the trunk, so the tree will be perfect and the end will come.

Roman 11 is a fascinating read.

I would say give them the title “Chosen People”. They were chosen as the ones through whom the Christ would enter the world. It has simply changed from future tense (he will enter the world) to past tense (he did enter the world). So instead “are the Chosen People” to “were the Chosen People”.

Catholics are adopted, ingrafted, into the Chosen People. God is absolute.
