St. Leo the great is one of only two Popes to be universally called “the great.” He wasn’t a priest or bishop–but was made the Pope all the same. When Attila the Hun, considered since then to be an archetypal monster, invaded Italy, destroying wherever he came, Pope Leo went to him right outside the city when he came upon Rome, and got Attila to turn away from the city.

Blessed be Leo the Great, he has done
a lot to help us appreciate the great event
of Christmas, when the God who is incapable
of suffering became man and suffered for the
sins of humanity!!

I thought Attila the Hun was turned back at the gate 'cause he forgot his tickets to the arena. Hmm, did someone tell me wrong?😃
