Act of Contrition

Anyone else feel that the Act of Contrition feels a bit clunky?
Perhaps it’s a poor translation? I particularly dislike the phrase ‘because you are so good’. God is good - but I kind of feel that this phrasing is a bit… naff?

There are various versions of the Act of Contrition. Go here and you’ll find a dozen or more.

It doesn’t really matter anyway. When you go to confession and are asked to make an act of contrition, you can use a set prayer or use your own words. Perhaps you could write your own Act of Contrition and use it when you do an examination of conscience or go to confession.
