Just found out about a Single Catholic Adults Weekend Retreat during the first weekend in June so I am thinking and praying about it, but I believe I will be going. Most if all my friends are Catholic but not practicing so it would be a great time to make some connections.

Even tbough I am sick, I went a gay club with some friends. I had a wonderful time dancing! Now I’m going to get some coffee, getting hair done (appointment was TODAY, not Saturday, d’oh) and clothes shopping. 🙂

I came back home and didn’t get told off by anybody upon crossing the doorstep. 😛

Just kidding. 😉

Being single for me is not something to celebrate. Although it allows for more free time and it doesn’t impose certain responsibilities, it’s not something I’ve chosen for myself and is not the way I intend to spend my life. Neither am I happy to have a longer single time and more time to use my freedom before I “settle down”. In fact, I believe in marrying young, though in my case, I probably wasn’t ready, not without my own fault (I wasn’t the kind of man I’d wish to have as a son-in-law and I wasn’t able to pick the right woman either). Right now I do have some things to finish before I’m able to start a married household but continued education costs money but money doesn’t come easily without education (I’m doing a Ph.D. in law and intending to start a post-grad course in translation to qualify as a certified translator, which is something to do before bar admission, which is more complicated where I live than it is in the US, but Ph.D. degree allows to skip a mandatory 3 year training on top of Master’s degree). So this is not the same as starting over at university for the fun of it. I intend to get this done as fast as possible, so that I’m hopefully younger than 30 when done with all of it. But I’m already looking. Except I realise I’ll be more credible when actually done with education (hopefully next year).

On a lighter note, I borrowed a book on psychopaths from my father yesterday. It should help me dodge the bullet! 😃

Today I went for a walk at the local park, instead of doing homework. Ahh, guilty pleasures…🙂

I got to lift some weights then sit on the couch with a nice cold beer and relax and watch some hockey and basketball. No way a wife would allow me to watch so much sports!

Studying for finals, cooking, working out: tomorrow and wednesday…party time come friday, and graduation trip to Belize in 2 weeks!!!

Mostly sat in my room, contemplating morality and philosophy on these forums. Then I went to the Alumni Center to study Calculus and Meteorology (they had free drinks and such). Basically a very lonely and quiet day, much like everyday is for me.

I’m young, Catholic, and single, but I sure as heck am not active, nor am I particularly happy. I made a few new friends my freshman year of college, but I never hung out with these people, and as someone who is very talkative and outgoing, this troubled me. It’s always been that way: High school I always sat at home. College, I mostly just sat quietly in my dorm, alone. I feel really regretful about my life these days.

I’m already up and getting ready for work. The only person I have to nag to get moving is myself. 😛

I’ll be stopping by RCIA tonight to say hello, and then I’ll be heading back to finish up my capstone for tomorrow. My professor is holding our last class at a nice restaurant, and she’s treating us to drinks and appetizers. 👍

Active I keep myself busy. 👍
Young well only if 40s is the new 20s 😉
Catholic still so far 👍
Single unless my husband from Dubai shows up when he realizes he’s lost a wife :confused:😃

oooh… it doesn’t get much better than that. I wish I had a professor like that when I was in college.

40 is by no means old. You are young in my book.

I know! I had a prof who treated us to coffee once, but never drinks and appetizers. It’s really awesome! 👍

I just thought of another great reason to be young and single: you can be buy stuff for yourself! (yeah I know…d’oh! :p)

Case in point: My current digital camera is 5 years old and I now can’t find/buy a memory card for it. What’d I do? Yep, bought myself a brand-new one! I ordered Canon SD1300 IS PowerShot digital camera (in this color). Amazon was having some ridiculously amazing deals and I jumped on them. I bought it Tuesday night and it SHOULD be waiting for me at my apartment complex TODAY!!! I’m a happy Kimmy. 😃

YES! This does rock. I’m probably going to buy myself a really nice and expensive backpack for hiking-150 bucks-if I had a family, I don’t think I could spend the money and be away for several days without having an angry family when I come home!

LOL! Yep!

The only bad thing about spending the money is seeing the bill. :ouch:

I picked up my bike from the shop today. I got it tuned up and got new brakes. I am doing a 20 mile bike ride in two weeks that involves some serious hills and I am behind schedule in getting in proper shape due to a muscle injury. But now I am all set. Tomorrow and over the weekend I am going to go for nice bike rides each day.

RIght now I am munching on blackberries and then am heading to the gym. One of the positives about being single is I am able to splurge on litle treats like blackberries and pursue hobbies like cycling. Although it would be much more fun to have someone to share this with!

Sincerely,

Maria1212

Not necessarily. My dad used to occasionally go off on weekend hunting and fishing trips. And both my parents travel on occasion without the other. Mum loves it. Gives her a break from the farm and a chance to do the shopping, art galleries, opera and musicals etc that she doesn’t get to do living as far from civilisation as she does.

Hey, don’t count on that! I’m from the basketball capitol of the world! 😉

Seriously, I love sports and most of the women I know do too…I’m sure you were mostly joking in your post, but trust me–there are women out there who would not only “allow” you to watch all the sports you want, but will also bring the chips and beer and sit right down with you and enjoy! 👍

Well, this young(ish) Catholic single hasn’t been so active for the last day or two. Been stuck at home with a bad cold. At least I can shlep around the house in my PJs all day, watch trashy DVDs, read trashy novels and spend hours on the interwebz, and not clean up my mess, without anyone getting upset at me or risking getting infected themselves.
