May his soul rest in the Lord.
I see he was raised a Catholic, and spent 3 years in a monastery.
I well remember his role in Joe. He was memorable.
And who didn’t love Frank Barone and family?

Peter will be missed! 😦 I loved him as the gruffy, crude father of Raymond.
Rest in Peace and God Bless

John Lennon was best man in his wedding…Who would have thought…Rest in Peace…

Educated in Roman Catholic schools in Philadelphia, Boyle would spend three years in a monastery before abandoning his studies there. He later described the experience as similar to “living in the Middle Ages.”
He explained his decision to leave in 1991: “I felt the call for awhile; then I felt the normal pull of the world and the flesh.”
I wonder if he left the faith completely because of the pull of the world and the flesh?

Pu’‘in’ on thuh Riiiiiiiiiiiiii’’’’!!!

RIP, Peter.

Did he leave the faith or just the Christian Brothers? I have seen nothing to indicate he left the Church - though I have seen nothing to indicate he was Catholic at his death, either. That being the case, I assume he died Catholic.

I loved Peter Boyle, he was a fantastic actor.
May God grant mercy to his soul.

Marie: I’m not just a trophy wife.
Frank: What contest in hell did I win?

Great character, great actor. He will be sadly missed.

I’ve never seen Everybody Loves Raymond but I loved Peter Boyle as the monster in Young Frankenstein – if you haven’t seen it,rent it.

He also played (I think) Sipowicz’s AA sponsor on NYPD Blue.
