This verse is omitted in some translations of Scripture, NIV for example. Why is that? Is it because this verse is not found in older manuscripts of Acts?

Thanks,
ZP

It is omitted in the New American Bible - Revised Edition, with the following footnote:
The oldest and best manuscripts of Acts omit this verse, which is a Western text reading: “And Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ And he said in reply, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’” (source)

IIRC, the Holy Apostle John the Beloved Disciple and Theologian pronounced an anathema against those who would add or subtract from Sacred Scripture (and the Apocalypse in particular). I forget the exact verses in the Apocalypse but they’re in there somewhere.

But this isn’t really people adding to or subtracting from Scripture. Some manuscript traditions contain certain verses that others omit. It’s just what happens when things get written down in different places by different people. Some information is lost or remembered differently as it’s handed down.
