I don’t know if this is the right foum group to post this in or not so forgive me if it’s not. Natural disasters such as flood and such are they from God as punishment for sin. I know they can be but are they always?

They are physical evils, permitted by God for the sake of allowing a greater good to come about. Whether and how punishment for sins factors into an individual disaster is something I would not be comfortable speculating on without some kind of divine revelation to guide my interpretation.

You are right that all human suffering is ultimately a consequence of sin, even if only the sin of our first parents. If I’m not mistaken though the OP was asking whether any given natural disaster is a temporal punishment for the personal sins of the people affected, and I would hesitate to affirm that.Without sin, there would be no suffering. He didn’t specify “for the personal sins of the people affected.” If he had, I would agree, we do not know that, and in fact it is unlikely that it would be so cut and dried.
