What I need to know is: Is Adam supposed to have has another wife?
My Granddaughter says that this has been said to her but I cannot find any references. It is supposed to have some connection to the
Dead Sae Scrolls.

Kevin,

There is no refernece in Scriptures to Adam having a second wife.

See Genesis 2:24
Maththew 19:5-6
Ephesians 5:31

Second, where would he get a second wife? would she not have to have been his own daughter?

Your Garanddaughter’s source may be Mormon. Certainly no Christian source I am aware of woudl support the hypothesis.

Some Jewish traditions hold that his first wife was a naughty girl named Lilith.

In Jewish folklore Adam had a first wife named Lilith, and the legend says that she gave birth to all the demons and she was cast out by God and He created Eve as Adams second wife.

I believe it is from Jewish folklore and not from the Talmud itself, but I may be wrong.

Yours in the Spirit

Pious.

While there are some references to Lilith in the Talmud, they do not address her origins or what she was doing. As you correctly noted, it is Jewish mythology that leads to the story of Lilith – although this may, in part, be due to a similar story in the Gilgamesh epic.

Deacon Ed

Isaiah 34:14 - “Wildcats shall meet with hyenas, goat-deamons shall call to each other; there too Lilith shall repose, and find a place to rest.”

NAB describes Lilith: a female demon thought to roam about the desert.

I don’t know of any other places this is in the Bible. As far as Jewish folklore remember the writings are not inspired.
