I am just wondering what do the Perpetual Adoration Nuns (The PCPAs, the SSpSAPs, etc…) pray during their adoration. Isn’t each nun may have an hour of adoration?

Thank you!

Thomas

This probably won’t hit all the “bases” for you…but hopefully it will help.

Pax Christi

Most of their actual prayers in adoration are from/in the Liturgy of the Hours (they are intently focused on the words in the Psalms…which are the primary…daily prayers of the Universal Church). The Psalms have all you need to cover all the “prayer bases”…just take a look at the psalm categories chart below…pretty impressive list of prayer categories and intentions…

Know why the Psalms are the “Maserati Prayers” of the Church?..

**Simply, because God wrote them Himself…for Himself…He has given us the best Divinely Inspired Words (script to follow)…right from God Himself…Also, Jesus, Mary and Joseph prayed these psalms for years…even at this death on the cross…Jesus directs us to pray and meditate on Psalm 22. Someone said that in the whole bible (OT & NT)…we read and listen to God’s Word…but in the Psalms…he listens to us (using His Inspired Word of course…but He is “all ears” when we pray His psalms to Him!

Some nuns are of the perpetual rosary and adoration, so they pray the rosary during adoration as a guard of honor to Our Lord and Our Lady.

A nun from the Summit, NJ, Dominicans said many people get the wrong idea about adoration. It can end up being an hour of lectio before the Blessed Sacrament.

I know of one young lady who felt inspired to found a community of nuns who would have two nuns before the Blessed Sacrament–one praying the rosary, the other praying the Divine Mercy chaplet.

HTH.

Blessings,
Cloisters
