Hey, i was just wondering if anyone has ever seen a face or anything strange happen to the blessed sacrament during adoration.

It was one of my first times at adoration, and i could swear i saw a small (very unclear) face where i could make out, eye sockets, facial hair, and mouth. When i looked away, and refocused, then looked straight back i could see it again. The once or twice it got bigger and became really clear, but itd always shock me and id look away and lose it!

Im pretty sceptical about these sort of things, its one of my flaws, but i kept looking away, thinking about logic and other things, then looking back and it was still there.

The sacrament also seemed to glow very bright then fade, then glow then fade, like a light bulb. There was a real sense of energy coming from the sacrament.

Now, while i believe in the blessed sacrament, ive never thought you were supposed to be able to see anything in it, i just thought it was the presence and all that, but here the sacrament seemed physically alive to me.

Has anyone ever had this, or if not is there any other explanation for what ive seen. After all, i wasn’t trying to see anything, so it wasnt like i was convincing myself, as i dont really believe in it…

Help??

It is possible, after all Christ is really present, there are Eucharistic miracles where the Host has physically become flesh & blood. However, for yourself personally, there is a famous story about St. Louis of France (he was a King of France who had great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament & used to make a Holy Hour every day). One day, while he was working in his office, one of the servants came in very excited to say that the Child Jesus was appearing it the blessed sacrament exposed in the chapel down the hall. St. Louis replyed that seeing the Child Jesus would not make him on bit more convinced of the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and continued work. So I wouldn’t be too concerned about whether it was real or not, I would concentrate of my belief that Jesus is really there regardless of whether I see/don’t see a face.

I, too, have experienced seeing Jesus’ face in many different ways in the Blessed Sacrament during adoration. I was also very skeptical, but they continue to present themselves not only in the chapel where I have my regular adoration, but at other churches as well.

They are not always there, and I don’t “look” for the faces or expect them because I, too, believe Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament whether or not I “see” Him. When they are there, I just thank our Lord for this gift, whether I am actually “seeing” them or they are just in my own mind.

When this first began, I waited several weeks and then went to talk with our pastor about it. Father was very discerning and said that certainly many people experience Jesus’ presence in different ways during adoration, that he didn’t doubt my experience, but not to expect it to happen and not to feel disappointed when/if I didn’t see faces. I have not told very many people about this, because it is sort of a “private revelation” given to us as a precious gift. Father said this was wise. Just as we do not share with very many others the intimate times with our spouses, we do not share the very initimate times with our Ultimate Spouse, Jesus.

I share this here because I know there are others who have experienced this and I thought our priest’s advice was very wise.
Father also said that when we felt called to share this experience with someone, to say a little pray and then follow the Holy Spirit’s lead.

Thanks Didi,

Good to see im not the only one and/or going insane!!! Im pretty sceptical myself, but occasionally i do see something. I have been struggling with faith from time to time, and i believe that they might be a little gift from God just to open my mind and help me on my way!
