Adult shopping sunday

I live in a Jewish neighborhood and overhere the shops are closed from fridaynight until saterday. Does any of you know if there is an adult to go to thesupermarket on sunday in these circumstances?It is raining now and when i take the bus i have to walk in the rain. I feel like it is a sin to take a taxi as the bus drives anyhow, the taxi does only drive when i ask for it…

As I see it if your goal is a good one and to carry it out practically then take a taxi!

Many years ago when I was a young mother and had not yet learned to drive, I took a taxi for $5.00 to take me and my then small children to Mass on a freezing cold day. The Church was about one mile away. In lovely weather it was possible to walk.

I did this because at that time my husband only came occasionally to Mass, and I couldn’t count on him to do so every Sunday.
 
Hello, Woman1987. No, it is not a sin to do your grocery shopping on a Sunday, nor is it a sin to take a taxi to Mass. As far as making the taxi driver work versus making the bus driver work— both are working, whether you use their services or not. The taxi driver is on duty for whomever calls for a cab, and the bus driver drives his regular route whether anyone gets on the bus or not. As for the grocery shopping goes, you cannot shop when the shops are not open. You are not sinning by shopping when the shops are open.

I think this is a time to ask your conscience.
In the not so old days people were careful not to work or shop on Sundays. Even my grandfather sometimes risked loosing half his harvest in order not to work on Sundays. I deeply admire that, but haven’t grown up with it and am very unorganized, so I often find myself going and buying stuff on Sundays… I do try to not clean or do homework on Sundays… however, it all ought to be consistent. or the whole thing wont matter.

I think God blesses people who keeps the Sunday free from work and shopping. Keeping the sabbath is listed together with tithing in the Bible, and I have heard enough testimonies about people were blessed back when they gave God time and money like its asked in the Bible.

I used to live in Israel. There they keep the Saturday Holy, which is the same as our Sunday for them. I think if you have no other choice, then keep their seventh day of the week holy… its the same principle. Before the days had names, God rested on the seventh day.
