St. Francis de Sales’ sermons from Advent 1621 have been collected in one small book (also his Lent 1622 sermons, in another book).

They make excellent reading for the season, especially if you attend the TLM like our family (the Mass readings he comments on are the same ones we hear at Mass).

I recently learned that the Third Sunday of Advent is called “Gaudette Sunday”. Gaudette means “rejoice” in Latin. The third candle of the Advent wreath and the priest’s vestments were rose colored.
