Thank you. These are prettier then the one I bought this year. Also, these are less expensive as I paid over that amount plus the $9.00 shipping fee.

Phemie, those are the type I remember. I just the other day found one I had gotten for my children when they were little. I planned on putting it up this year for myself. I will post a pic tomorrow if I think of it.

I’ve splurged a couple of times and ordered a dozen or more in different styles to give out to my grandsons and very young family friends who call me “Auntie”. I’ve found that even with the exchange on the Canadian dollar and the shipping it’s not that expensive per calendar. And they’re lovelier than what I can get around where I live.

I always put one up for myself, it’s really my only Advent/Christmas decoration since we go spend Christmas & New Years with our daughter and her family.

Hi Janet, I LOVE that idea. The saint I picked for my confirmation is St. Francis of Assisi. He is the one who started the nativity. I just bought my first nativity for this upcoming advent. I love reading about the saints. I completely love this idea. Thank you for sharing.

Both of these sold out by me! BTW, the wine advent calendar was $70!

I want an Aldi wine Advent calendar 🙂
I’ve got my eye on the cheese one.
I want the craft beer one - it usually lasts me 4 months.

How about a Jesse Tree? The Advent calendar fits wonderfully with the Jesse Tree reflections.

A Jesse Tree starts on December 1 and follows our ‘Family Tree’ of salvation. Very much like the readings from Easter Vigil. The first reflection is Creation. There are also ornaments/symbols that go along with the readings. The final 8 days is for the ‘O Antiphons’ as we anticipate the celebration of Emmanuel - God with us!

Okay, so I mentioned earlier that I purchased the Advent and Christmas Wisdom from St. Thomas Aquinas book that you recommended. I looked through it and I have to say that I’m looking forward to starting it. I like that there are daily readings and prayers! I also bought a chocolate advent calendar from Aldi ($1.29). I feel like I “need” to experience that since I didn’t get to as a child. So, my plan is to do my readings and prayers, and treat myself to a chocolate 🙂 I may light a candle as well (though I have beagles and they are CRAZY, so I’ll have to be really careful).
