Advent Candles

I would like to know if anyone can tell me about the tradition or the prayers that go with the advent wreath I just bought one and would like to include this tradition into our Christmas. It has 3 purple candles and 1 pink candle. When does Advent start ? Any suggestions will be helpful.

Advent begins December 3rd this year --it’s always the first Sunday after the Feast of Christ the King. Here is a link that may help:

You also might want to check at your parish to see if it gives out Advent booklets with prayers and meditations for the season – two of the parishes I have belonged to do this
