Hello,

I’m looking for advice on how to handle dealing with famil members that don’t agree with the Catholic Church while I am wanting to convert to Catholicism. I come from a Protestant background and this is difficult for everyone who don’t understand. It’s got me down. Thanks

Don’t make it about being right or wrong. Tell them you are growing closer to Christ.
and SMILE.
No one would be opposed to that.
Seriously, when they see that are very happy with your life and your relationship with the Lord, they will back off, and maybe even wonder what it’s all about.
Let the Holy Spirit do the heavy lifting at this point. Learn about the faith, and find peace in the Lord’s loving arms.
God bless you on your journey.

Protestants who display trust in God concerning Catholics’ beliefs will have their reward. You could pray quietly that God will get them ready to be among these.

Hello,

It’s great you are converting to Catholicism, maybe ask a Catholic priest at a local parish for extra help with this matter.

Bless you!

What are you in this family? Parent? Child? Also “Protestant background” is a very broad category. What brand of Protestant?

Well I was born and raised Baptist. My wife is Baptist but comes from a very small Baptist Church. She is much more open to my converting and is curious but hesitant. My mother in law is very sceptical of Catholic beliefs. She is very religious but tends to disagree with most Catholic teaching. She is also from a small Baptist Church. I was very active in my father in law’s church(Baptist) before deciding to convert. I think a lot of them were shocked at my decision. It’s a small church with a lot of the members being related to my wifes side of the family.
