I’m one of four R.C.I.A. catechists at my parish. I want to see the newly confirmed embrace and practice their faith. Over the years, Iv’e seen confirmed Catholics excited about their new faith. Others, I really can’t say. As cathechists, especially R.C.I.A., what advise do you have to get those going through the R.C.I.A. process fired up for the faith? 🙂

I taught RCIA for 3 years.

We must not assume the mantle of complete responsibility. God is IN CHARGE.

That said, if All of the Teachers both TEACH with enthuism and then MODEL the Catholic Life with enthuism; and teach them enough to understand WHY they should be enthused and BE excited; it will with prayers, likely happen.🙂

WHERE ELSE CAN THEY MEET GOD IN PERSON; FACE TO FACE
RECEIVE THE REAL AND COMPLETE JESUS IN CATHOLIC HOLY COMMUNION
AND HAVE EXCLUSIVELY: KNOWN FORGIVENESS OF THEIR SINS:D

ONLY HERE IN CHRIST OWN CATHOLIC CHURCH.👍 AMEN:gopray2:

I would invite them to download Catholic Answers Live to their player and listen while driving to and from work. I listen while exercising at lunch time too.

There is nothing like hearing the regulars on Catholic Answers Live dispel years of poor catachesis in just a few sentences.

Books: by Frank Sheed; The Faith Explained by Leo Trese, the real Catechism (not the US version); The New Testament (RSV, 2nd Catholic Ed. by Ignatius Press)

Activities: Annual retreat with Miles Christi, Days of Recollection, Weekly rosary group at the local or nearby parish, weekly faith formation with others in the community, monthly confession (1st Saturday devotion), Eucharistic adoration, Daily readings at home with the family

Be real, approachable and show that you care. One of my teachers really knew her stuff and was a convert therefore I had extra respect for her. If they see the joy that you have, it will rub off on them. I also suggest that you pray for them and be willing to be there for them as well. There is a wonderful book called: Catholics Can Come Home Again!: A Guide for the Journey of Reconciliation with Inactive Catholics by C Kemp which is worth the read.
