People say that your brother is now in heaven after “death” But in the bible it states that God will come down to Earth to judge the living and dead. So technically, those who have died are not in heaven yet, correct? So why does the Catholic Church not be honest and tell the people otherwise?

We believe in two judgements. The first occurs immediately after death when your final destiny is set. On that your soul will go to heaven, hell or purgatory.

On the last day, when Jesus returns there will be a public judgement and our souls and bodies will be reunited. Those still in purgatory will be admitted to heaven.

Some people will still be alive for the second coming. Will they never have to die? That would be a great deal 😀

So events held such as rosarys for the dead don’t really do anything? In the bible it states that he will come for us all. The only people that are known to be in heaven are Jesus, Mary, and I forgot his name, but the man who died next to him on the cross. So what I’m getting from you is a contradiction. Are people in heaven or still on Earth, purifying?

No.
We know the saints are in Heaven.
After death is the immediate Judgement.
We are then given a “taste” of our judgement.
At the end of the world is the General Judgement.
Then it is final.

We pray for the souls in purgatory, to help them be purified more quickly and go to Heaven.

Some are in Heaven, some have been judged worthy but are still impure. They are in purgatory and are who we say rosaries for. Some are still on Earth and haven’t been judged yet. And some are in Hell.

As Elf said, there are two judgments. There is the particular judgment, which is what happens when we die. This is when our particular outcome is determined. If we are saved but still have attachment to sin, we go to Purgatory for a while until we are purified. Then we enter Heaven. If we are judged unworthy, we go to Hell. Then there is the general judgment. This is what happens at the end of time when the outcome of each person is made known to all, and the full ramifications of our life choices is made known to us. This is what’s spoken about, with God coming to judge us at the end of time.

There is clear evidence from the Bible, particularly Revelations, that the souls of the saved are already in Heaven, as they are clearly shown interacting with God even though the final judgment has not occurred.

Then what the bible and church say about us being judged until the absolute end of time isn’t real? And yes, I was mistaken about it only being those 3 people, I completely forgot about the saints.

No, it is real. That is the general judgment. The pronouncement at the end of time of the salvation / damnation of all souls. As has been stated repeatedly, this is the second judgment. Just because there are two doesn’t mean that either one is invalid or doesn’t actually happen. The first is private, the second is public.

Actually, I take it back. What you’re talking about isn’t real… the Bible doesn’t say that we will only be judged at the end of time, only that we will be judged at the end of time. You’re adding an singular clause that is not present in the text.

No, we are judged to the end of time. I don’t understand your question.
The end of days comes, then the General Judgement. This general judgement is permanent and eternal. No more purgatory.

I got it, so there’s two stages in judgement. But why doesn’t the catholic church talk about this? Since other people such as myself believe that people, if worthy, go straight to heaven, and that’s that. But I understand now, thank you.

We do talk about it… It comes up quite frequently in Catholic literature. It doesn’t come up that often during the Mass because it’s not all that relevant to the proceeding’s of the mass. There’s a great deal more to Catholic belief than what you hear on the pulpit. Sadly, that’s all many people ever learn about their faith. It’s not the Church’s fault that people aren’t willing to study their faith.

They are no-longer in our space-time. They have been resurrected (or in purgatory). They are not in some waiting room somewhere… You too are also there with them at the resurrection (i hope and pray) even though you are also here now in this space-time… God is the beginning and the End - everything has already happened for God; God is not waiting for you at the Resurrection because from God’s perspective you are already there with him in heaven and you are also here in our particular space-time… This particular time continuum holds no relevance to the dead.

The Church does talk about. You can also read about it in the Catechism of the Catholic Church which Catholics should read.

Click the link to the CCC and read about the two judgements:

We must remember that when we die with the first judgement, we are of spirit only, but on the last day we are to be resurrected into new bodies. Heaven is more than just a place, it is also a state of mind/soul. So, the place may change between both judgements, but your place is secure if you are there (not in hell), just that it shall be revealed to all your sins, etc, etc…in the second judgement.
