AfterShock Comics introduces a new transgender superhero

What’s even worse is that Marvel came out with a comic a while back about a superhero who was trans-species! The sickest part is that they wrote this character as a young boy who just revels in this unnatural mindset.

Had this been a story about someone dealing with physical and mental issues, that would be one thing, but to see a young person acting out on these inclinations and being hailed as a hero is depraved.

I mean, part man and part spider?! Gross!
The Goa’uld are sometimes transpecies although they usually prefer human hosts.

Once a Goa’uld takes its first host, it will usually take other hosts with the same gender as the first host since it adopted the gender personality of the first host. They are not usually a transgender species.

Well except Osiris.

Still a mortal sin. Even on P3X-888.

At least it is not Marvel Comics that did this. I actually like Marvel. I am concerned that they will make Captain America gay though.
Oh, Marvel already crossed that line into gay characters (Spider-Woman for one). Too bad. Captain America? Not in the movies, anyway.

I fear that that they are going to pair Captain America with Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because that is what many fans want.

“Conditioning children into believing that a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse,” according to the American College of Pediatricians.

They’re a right wing political advocacy group, and their opinion has nothing to do with the best interests of the child.
So if the group is right wing and does not support transgender surgery they do not have the best interest of a child. Okay then.

Good grief…
OK we have trans people in society…OK they exist…OK …
But why do we want to make hero’s out of them?
Its not the best thing in the world… Its not good to be born into the wrong body…Its not good to have to physically alter yourself from what you were born to be…
Its not good to go through the medical procedures… The the grueling emotional and physical problems that come, even if everyone is “ok” with it…Its not a good thing ….
Why in the world would there be a super hero comic touting this as something special and “good”?
TheMidnightMatinee June 25, 2016 7:7PM
@Kumijo Actually, the medical procedures give many trans women a sense of peace. Pity more can’t afford to make that choice.
And why should we pretend they can’t be good people? This is one hero. How many heroes represent you?
AngelDev June 26, 2016 4:4PM
@Kumijo Let us ask a different question. Insert any other oppressed demographic in place of ‘transgender’ and ask the question again and you might just see how bigoted that entire perspective is.
We have superheroes of different genders that are nonwhite, women, survivors of trauma, alien, and the list goes on. The fact that an alien superhero in your mind is more acceptable than a natural occurring variance in gender that has happened in human being as long as there have been human beings.
The history of transgender people has been frequently attempted to be erase and altered so bigots do not have to accept the reality that we have always existed and will always exist. That the entire ‘emotional problems’ don’t stem from being what we are so much as the ignorance and hate of a society that pretends we don’t exist.
Considering how many human cultures recognized multiple genders the entire myth of the binary is just that, a myth.
Also take into consideration that people who are transgender face the most oppression of any group, with the exception of people who are transgender and PoC. They face more dehumanization and violence for merely existing than most can even contemplate.
WE need a hero more than most that things can be better, that we can help make the world better.
The other flaw in your statement is the conflating someone who is transgender with having gender dysphoria. Thus you show your ignorance. A person can be transgender and not have gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria has to do with the image of what our body looks like versus the reality of what we know ourselves to be.
There are few if any actual cases where a person who has transitioned isn’t happy with it. The few cases of what might appear to be that are one of two things. 1 is they slipped through the psychological testing that are done to make sure the person actually is transgender. 2 They are a mole from the conservative movement to try and undermine the fight for transgender rights.
We exist, we have always existed, we have survived when others have tried to beat us into submission, sexually assault us into compliance, and kill us to make believe there was something wrong with us rather than the sickness of society.
And if you are uncomfortable reading that last paragraph realize that reality is what a transperson has to live with every day and if we are able to be out in being who we are we live with the higher risk of that happening.
Not to mention the fact that people who are bigoted tend to try to conflate a person being transgender into being, magically, a measure of their character.
I am a woman, who is transgender, a nerd, a horror fanatic, a spiritualist, a scientist, an artist, a nerd, a gamer etc. All these are aspects of my character. But make no doubt about this fact. A transgender woman IS a woman and a transgender man IS a man.
Superheros have become the crayons. There must be one for every sexual orientation and gender identity under the sun.

bold: If a trans tells me this then it must true, right?

Whatever happened to normal?

@Observing
You must have been asleep for the past sixty years.
TheMidnightMatinee June 25, 2016 7:7PM
@Observing We stopped pretending “average” represented everyone. You then fell and hit your head, and somehow forgot about every other superhero out there. I envy you. The next few decades of your life will be filled with the joy of discovery.
Just avoid “One More Day.” Trust me on this.
Man, TheMidnightMatinee is on a role. Sometime in the late 2000s I said that it was only a matter of time that someonw would the mutants, or the X-Men, as an analogy to the LGBT. Sure enough Ian McKellen, who’s gay, fulfilled that prophecy. Way to be so predictable, Gandalf. TheMidnightMatinee just takes it to new heights.

Also, anyone notice the absolute snark and condescension of TheMidnightMatinee? Don’t forget the desperation of AngelDev.
