Agnus Dei- Latin Confusion in Song

I remember learning a song for Mass when I was wee… and now it is kind of haunting me.

I know Agnus Dei mans Lamb of God and Requiem means rest… however, the only line of the song I can remember is:

Agnus Dei
Agnus Dei
Agnus Dei
Agnus Dei Requiem

So… it’s
Lamb of God
Lamb of God
Lamb of God
Lamb of God Rest ?

1. Does anyone have any idea what song I am referring to
2. Does it even make sense, cause I am confused

It goes:

***‘Agnus Dei ***(Lamb of God)
qui tollis peccata mundi (who takes away the sins of the world)
***miserere nobis ***(have mercy on us).’

Of course that verse is repeated.

Then it’s

'Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
dona nobis pacem (grant us peace) ’

‘Requiem’ does also mean rest, so I suppose ***‘dona nobis requiem’ ***might have been substituted.

Yes… however, I distinctly remember the Angus Dei Requiem section I provided being sung… hrm… oh well

Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us.
Jesus, redeemer of the world, grant us your peace.

we sing it just before communion.

requiem means “repose”

dona eis requiem sempiternam means ‘give them eternal rest or repose’

Strangely enough, I’ve heard that in Roman Catholic Masses also (NO).

Don’t take this wrongly, but if I want a Protestant Mass, I’ll go to a Protestant Church. A Roman Catholic Mass is supposed to be Roman Catholic, dammit!
