Ah, the simplicity of the Saints!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

How these words from the Diary of St. Faustina bless me:
  1. My goal is God…and my happiness is in accomplishing His Will, and nothing in the world can disturb this happiness for me: no power, no force of any kind…

No wonder Jesus and Mary spoke to St. Faustina! She had a heart with ears to listen, and eyes to see by Faith whatever God revealed. Like Mary, who heard the Truth from the Angel Gabriel and having heard, Mary’s first word was “How?” – so we need to listen as Mary and all the Saints before us have listened to God’s Revelation in Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium of the Church.

I need to ask “How can I do the Truth I hear?” Each of us has a unique role in God’s Plan and so each of us must seek His Will in the depths of our own hearts. Others can help but we need to give ourselves and no one can do that for us. No one can be the saint He created each of us to be. We need to seek in His Word and His sacraments to find Jesus, our Way, our Truth, and our Life. We need to keep knocking on the door of His Heart that He may open to us and pour forth His blood and water that gushed forth from His side on Calvary.

If I am not peaceful, then I realize, I’m not listening to the Holy Spirit’s guidance from within, or I’m not doing the Truth I hear, or I simply need to keep asking, seeking and knocking on the door with more persevering faith. Jesus asked in the Gospel, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find Faith on the earth?”

Come Holy Spirit, kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. Purify us and make us ready for Jesus when He comes again. Make us saints!
Mary, Mother of Mercy, interred for us and for all those in most need of His Mercy.
 
Yes, Amen to what the OP said. I am strugling with depression and it’s been pretty bad for the last few weeks. I am bad at keeping in touch with relatives and I’m terrible at relationships with my closests. Right now it seems that everything is falling apart regarding the relationships in my closest family. I know that God never asks for more than we can give (carry). But he can get very close. I hope this statement is not offensive to anyone or even worse to God. Still. Glory be to God.

Thanks for your reply and your honesty. When things seem to be falling apart, I keep praying the lwords Jesus taught St. Faustina: “Jesus, I trust in You!” Those few words help me to remember God is in charge, and He works all things unto good (cf Rom 8:28).

He will never give us more than we can carry with His Grace – we sometimes try to carry our difficulties without asking and receiving His Grace; without seeking and finding His Will in situations, or without knocking on the door of His Heart that He may open to us and we may learn from Him all we truly need.

Yes, it can seem as if He is giving us more than we can bear, but remember He is always near to help us, and we need to trust Him. We need to pray with faith for all those closest to us, realizing Jesus died for all. Your statement is not offensive; it is an honest expression of your feelings. God knows how you feel, and He wants to show you how to live in Him and love as He loves.

May God be glorified in you and me and all His children, through Mary our Mother. Be assured Mary is interceding for you and for all of us, with the saints and angels who are with Him in Glory.
 
Thank you OP, very nice written. Yes, I do try to see God’s will in what is going on. I always TRY to keep in mind that everything serves for good for those who love Him. Maybe, if I get to heaven, what I sincerely wish and hope, I will be most grateful for these years. Probably so.

Dear TwoNames,

Yes, I believe we all will be grateful for whatever God allowed us to suffer in union with Him. St. Therese of Lisieux wrote: “Love is the willingness to suffer”. I really like that definition because of the word “willingness”. Suffering is not easy, but when we love someone enough, we are willing to suffer for them. When we look at the Crucifix and see how much Jesus suffered for us, it helps us offer ourselves with Him. We will never suffer as much as He and Mary suffered on Calvary.

Everyone suffers in this world, but how we suffer is important. Venerable Fulton J. Sheen once said there is a great tragedy in “wasted” suffering. St. Therese became a saint by offering little things with great love. At the end of her life God allowed her to suffer great physical pain which could accept because she had grown so much in her love, over the years in her “little way” of offering everything with great love.

Each saint is unique but all of them leaned to love much! May God continue to show us as He showed Mary and all the saints – in Jesus, we find our Way, our Truth and Our Life.

Mary, Mother of Sorrows, and Cause of our Joy, pray for us.
Jesus, I trust in You!
