I refuse to accept that, as that would be an admission that the Holy Spirit lacks the power to finally bring us together.

You have a good point. Nothing is beyond God. But then there’s that whole free will thing and the stubbornness of man.

But if anyone can bring us together again someday, it is God.

See? On this one little issue, He just brought us together. 😃

Hate to burst your bubble Little Katie, but 3 things you MUST REMEMBER.

1 - The Bible never says Mary has no sin. That’s why you will never find the biblical verses to support your claim.
Whatever catholics claim about the scripture ‘indirectly claiming’ her as sinless are based on baseless assumptions.
The bible says that the angel of the Lord greeted her with the words Hail, full of grace. These words support the notion that, prior to the greeting, Mary had already been blessed with the fullness of grace - where one is full of grace sin is absent. This emphatic greeting is direct support for the doctrine, as is the typological understanding of Mary as the complete fulfillment of the OT Ark in the NT. Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant.

2 - There’s no reason how a human will give ‘birth’ to God, neither does it make sense. When the bible says that Mary is the mother of Jesus, it means Mary was the physical mother of Jesus (who is God in the flesh). Is Mary the mother of God (the Spirit)? Answer is no.

Can you say Nestorianism? You are laboring under the same false conclusion that the Second Person of the Trinity is somehow different from the Person of Jesus Christ. Your own moniker confesses that Jesus is God. Assuming you mean that Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity, then this is the same person (Jesus) that Mary gave birth to. She is clearly the mother of Jesus, who is God. Hence, she is His mother. The title itself “Mother of God” was given to address this heresy that in essence makes two persons out of the Second Person. He is one person who took on a human nature in addition to His divine nature, and was born of Mary. That does not make Mary the creator of God. But it does make her - through His birth - the Mother of God.

3 - The Bible never says that we are to pray to Mary. It only says to pray to God. And Jesus already said that He is the Truth, the Way and the Life and no one goes to the Father EXCEPT through him, so there is NO REASON why you will need Mary or the Pope for that matter for any spiritual purpose.

Setting aside the attack on the papacy for another thread, I would simply note that the scripture describes the Church as the mystical body of Christ, and that we are all to pray for one another. There is no indication that this activity ceases at one’s bodily death. To the contrary, scripture teaches that we who are in Christ have eternal life. Similarly, there is no reason to believe that those who are in Christ and beyond this earthly life are disconnected from the Body. The early Church (and modern Church) view these individuals as the “Church Triumphant.” Their prayers and intercessions on our behalf are therefore prayers that have merit before God - precisely because they are in Christ and heirs of the Father.

Peace,
-Robert
