He’s pretty much a run-of-the-mill conservative evangelical influenced by reform theology, and his theology and distortions of Catholicism shares much with radio personalities along the lines of John MacArthur. Thanks for responding. Does anyone know his religious background? I looked up his webiste (Truth something or other? I just did it a couple hours ago and already forgot what it’s called!) but couldn’t find anything about him personally. I’d like to send him some links to Catholic Answers or the Coming Home Network of Catholics who share his background and correct his misinterpretation of Catholic Doctrine (since he probably wouldn’t listen to a “cradle Catholic”. He claims that whenever he’s asked his “devout Catholic” friends if they know they’re going to heaven, they say no, they only “hope”. He obviously doesn’t understand the difference between Theological Hope and pop-culture secular “hope”, among other things).

Since you brought it up, I often listen to the radio show sponsored by the Coming Home Network on my way home from work and find that Marcus Grodi, in much the same way as you are describing Alistair Begg, frequently distorts what various Protestant denominations believe. So I can relate to your comment: “I was pretty much yelling at the radio by that point”–only for me it’s with the Coming Home Network.
People who have some sort of public voice at least need to have the decency to accurately portray what some other Christian group thinks; there can’t even be honest differences of opinion with all of this distortion and misinformation flooding the airwaves. If someone wants to talk about what Catholics believe, bring an informed Catholic on the show. If you want to talk about what Lutherans/Methodists/Anglicans believe, bring on a credible spokesperson. If you disagree, then fine–at least you know what you are disagreeing WITH.
