I’m no dummy when it comes to religion. And there is one constant among all the faiths; EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG AND THEY ARE GOING TO HELL!!! I am especially saddened to see well meaning Christians say Catholics are deceived and going to hell. YOU JUST CAN’T WIN!

The assertion that everyone else is going to hell is not a constant among the various religions.

YOU JUST CAN’T WIN!
You can win. All you have to do is do God’s will. There is one God, one true religion. There always has been. Over time, people have bastardized it. But it’s always been there. Here’s how St. Augustine said it:

“For what is now called the Christian religion existed even among the ancients and was not lacking from the beginning of the human race until ‘Christ came in the flesh’. From that time, true religion, which already existed, began to be called christian. … For this reason, I said: ‘In our times, this is the Christian religion,’ not because it did not exist in Former times, but because it had received this name in later times”

MainBrain,
Be careful when making such wide-sweeping statements, they are seldom true, as in this case: the Catholic religion certainly does not teach that all others are going to hell.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church covers this in paragraphs 836-848 but I will quote a bit of it here:

842 The Church’s bond with non-Christian religions is in the first place the common origin and end of the human race:
All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all against the day when the elect are gathered together in the holy city…

843 The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as “a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life.”

847 This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience—those too may achieve eternal salvation.

The Catholic Church does not, in fact, teach that anyone specifically is damned to hell, not Judas, not Hitler, not Muslims, Baptists, agnostics, or atheists.

I would just say that all Christian religions that believe in hell teach that others go there very simply because Jesus taught that people do indeed go there.

However the judgment is not for us to do, rather it is for God and God alone to separate the sheep from the goats.

Let others say what they will.
Let’s us Catholics not do that tho.

Thank you, agreed. The Catholic Church leaves that up to God and the dying person, no matter who they are. God Bless, Memaw

Well no one wants to be wrong, now do they? Plus all religions teach that if you don’t follow us and do as our deity says, you will be punished for all eternity. So, yeah, it makes sense that they say that. Unless people want to follow the “all men will be saved” nonsense.

In the end, that’s why we discern what religion we chose to follow. We must make a choice of which religion we feel is the truth and follow it. Is there a chance that someone could be wrong, live a good religious life, and go to heaven? I guess so, but there are no guarantees.

Personally, I’ll take my chances with the only religion that says that God lived among men, who sacrificed himself for our iniquities, who established a Church here on earth to carry out his will, whose followers unceasingly preached his word to their own deaths, and countless others to this very day who do the same. A Church whose treasures in theology, science, art, music, and just about any discipline you could think of is unrivaled. There’s no religion in the world that’s like Christianity and especially Catholicism.

May is the key word. The Church may not say that anyone specific is there, but we’d be naive to think that Christ taught so much about hell as just a scare tactic.

Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus

As a Catholic i would never say that someone of another faith is headed for hell. God is the only judge!
