Traditionally, should we fast or feast on all souls day?

In the table of liturgical celebrations, it ranks as a solemnity (no penance, celebratory)

All Souls Day doesn’t rank as a Solemnity. It really isn’t listed as any rank of feast. It just is its own thing, at least in the modern calendar.

Thank you, Father. The table I consulted simply had it mixed in the middle of other solemnities. I guess I presumed that made it one as well.

Thank you for the clarification, Father! So I suppose it’s neither a day of particular festivity nor of penance?

All Souls’ Day is neither a feast nor a fast.

In the old calendar it is classed as a first class day, but not as a feast. In the current calendar is has no stated rank but just seems to be a day that is unique in the calendar.

There are no requirements to fast on All Souls’ Day.
