Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I wonder how many have read St. JPII’s “Familiaris Consortio”. I wonder if many Catholics are aware of the serious condition of many families in our times. How many are evangelized? How many Catholic Families are seeking to evangelize?

Posting another excerpt, today, from “Familaris Consortio” (“The Role of the Family in the Modern World”), I came upon this quote from Bl. Pope Paul IV, given by St. JPII:

…“all the members evangelize and are evangelized.”

St. John Paul II encourages all of us to understand and to live the fact that the Church exists to evangelize. If we are born of water and the Holy Spirt in Baptism we have been called, as the disciples in this Sunday’s Gospel were called: “Follow Me”!

True, we are all called in different ways; but ultimately we are called as Church to do as Mary who is our Mother and Model did on this earth: bring the Good News of Jesus to all. So many are in darkness and the Church is called to bring them the Light of Christ. Family members are called to evangelize one another - to be Christ’s light to one another. All of us are called to love one another as He has loved us.

Peter and Andrew, James and John two sets of brothers, followed Jesus immediately – I wonder what some of us are waiting for – are we saying " Well, maybe tomorrow"? If we hear the Voice of Christ, let us not harden our hearts but follow Him today, learning from Him how to take His yoke and learning to be meek and humble of heart. As St. JPII said so often: “Be not afraid! Open wide your hearts to Christ”!

Pope Paul IV is not beatified.

He also died well over 400 years ago, in the middle of the sixteenth century.

Aren’t you actually referencing Blessed Paul VI?

Haha that threw me off too. I thought “well this is interesting, we don’t hear about Paul IV that much!” I’m guessing the OP meant Paul VI.

Yes, sorry for the typo. St. John Paul II was referencing Bl. Pope Paul VI.
