All you "fanatical" Catholics

My best friend calls me a “hard core” Catholic even though I am simply following the Church’s rules and trying to live as best I can. But then again, there’s nothing wrong with being a hard core Catholic. ;):p:o

I’ve not been called “fanatical”… but I’ve heard the term “that religious nut” being used to describe me before… I guess it has something to do with the rosary on my rear-view mirror, the Divine Mercy and St. Michael bumper sticker, and the St. Benedict medal sticker on my car.
I just lived in South America for 6 years. I don’t think I’ve taken one taxi WITHOUT a rosary on the rear view mirror. A lot of teenagers have a rosary around their neck. Every shop has a poster of Jesus and if you’re in a bus it usually has something like “Jesus loves you” written on it and every time the bus passes a church all passengers cross themselves.
I think over there you consider your behavior as NORMAL:D

yeah but i was actaully instrumental (i feel) in changing someone’s mind about who to vote for…

a lot of good it did anyone… but oh well… can’t say we didn’t try…

hopefully God will give me an A for effort and an F for success… 😃
No wonder if you think you HAVE TO vote for the Republicans as a Catholic:rolleyes:

Sorry but God is not a Republican.

nobody doubts MY political views…

i am a right-wing NUT and always will be because that party is the only one that has any sense about LIFE, the most important issue of all…

you can hardly have any other rights if you don’t even have the right to exist…

so call me conservative or ultra-conservative… just don’t call me apathetic about the unborn…
Except for the part about capital punishment, unjust wars, greed, and the spread of poverty. Other than that, they are the only party who cares about life.

And something  tells me He isn’t a Democrat either.

You’re right, we didn’t HAVE to vote Republican as a Catholic. But we did have to vote for someone other than bo. if we wanted to be faithful to Catholic teachings.

Get your head on straight and looking in the right direction. The MOST important issue to be voted nay on were 1st Abortion and the other life issues which follow from that, Euthanasia, Cloning, Embryonic Stem Cell Research, and Homosexual Marriage. There are other Intrinsic Evils, but they were not a part of anyone’s platform in this past election.

Capital punishment, War, Greed, Poverty, Economics, Environmental concerns are ALL matters of Prudential Judgement which the Church states we as Catholics can deal with in various ways, and can have many different subjective opinions in regard to them. Sin and actions regarding these are incremental. Not so the Intrinsic Evil of abortion. That evil is NON NEGOTIABLE.

If a 100% pro life candidate was not available, (there were none), we were to vote for the candidate who is MOST likely NOT to expand the evil of abortion. The only VIABLE alternative candidate belonged to the Republican Party. Not every Catholic who voted Repub. voted for party, but for the moral issue of abortion. I am hoping the majority of Catholics and other folks not Catholic voted because of the Intrinsic Moral issues and not because of party affiliation. I will have to admit though, that is probably wishful thinking.

I guess I agree with Peter Kreeft on this one:
We should be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves,” sharp as a fox in thought but loyal as a dog in will and deed. Soft-heartedness does not excuse soft-headedness, and hard-headedness does not excuse hard-heartedness. In our hearts we should be “bleeding-heart liberals” and in our heads “stuck-in-the-mud conservatives.”
