Today has been a very busy day in the battle to protect marriage in America.

This evening, in a live nationwide television broadcast, I will be interviewed on the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS. The program starts at 6:00 p.m. EST. But please check your local listings as the time may vary depending on your local affiliate.

Most importantly, I ask for your prayers of support in advance for this important media interview.

Today, in the battle to protect marriage in America, the Oregon Supreme Court unanimously rejected same-sex marriage, nullifying nearly 3,000 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples a year ago. In Connecticut, Gov. M. Jodi Rell indicated she will sign a civil union law approved by the state legislature yesterday. The House version of the legislation defines marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

These events, among others, will be the topic for tonight’s interview.

To be sure, the problem of media resistance to our message still remains a serious obstacle. However, in the aftermath of the elections, the Alliance for Marriage continues to gain recognition in the national media for our success in advancing our cause. In a few short years, we are having and will continue to have an impact at the very highest levels of American public life.

Thank you for making this possible through your friendship and partnership in our efforts to rebuild a culture of intact families in America.
