Almah and Parthenos? (Isaiah 7:14)

I found this interesting little podcast discussing the issue of whether or not the Greek Septuagint’s translation of the Hebrew word “almah” (maiden) as parthenos (virgin) in Isaiah 7:14 is justified:

My thoughts are that those in the podcast didn’t bother to do much serious thinking and reasoning.

The Greek Septuagint Isaiah 7:14 passage reads " Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call His name Immanuel."

It seems pretty clear to me that the Jews who translated the Hebrew text into the Greek translated it in a way that made clear the meaning of the passage - how the Jews understood its meaning. After all, what kind of “sign” would it be for a young woman to conceive and bear a son; young women had been conceiving sons for years!!!
