I have recently been “elected” an officer in our parish’s Altar Society. The new officers and I would like to make some changes and implement some things to try to replace the “lukewarmness” with the fire of the Holy Spirit and a love of the Catholic Faith.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how to go about this task??? Our parish seems to be pretty dead.

Anything from fundraisers to activities…

These may seem obvious, but here goes. I think lukewarmness decreases when love for God increases. A tried and true method to increase one’s love for God is prayer.

Could your group meet for prayer on a regular basis (at the tabernacle, if possible)?

To get this started a retreat might help. You might want to find a retreat master from outside your group, to take the pressure off the society members.

Through prayer, your society will be leaven for your entire parish. Peace and blessings.
