Not in public devotions — and certainly not in public liturgy — but it private prayer, would it be okay to use an alternate English translation to the Our Father that makes more sense and matches more closely to the current Spanish and Italian translation of the Our Father.
Specifically, modifying the last line so instead of praying the traditional translation:
Our Father , Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
one would pray:
Our Father , Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and do not abandon us to temptation, but deliver us from evil.
