Am I a Catholic or what?

I don’t quite know what I am. I was born 2 months premature, and baptized by a Catholic Nun because It wasn’t certain if I was going to survive. I was raised in an Anglican family, confirmed an Anglican at fourteen, now I’m in St. Francis Xavier University, a University with Catholic Heritage, in a staunchly Catholic town. I’ve been attending the Catholic Church on Campus quite regularly, recieved communion and all that. But I’m confused as to what to do; am I a Catholic or an Anglican? I consider myself Catholic, but am I really? Is it wrong for me to take Communion? Should I take RICA or just talk to the Priest here on Campus?
Thanks,
~Colin

Dear Colin,

You are an un-instructed Catholic. You need to learn what the Church teaches before receiving any of the sacraments. By all means, contact a priest. I would encourage you to continue attending Mass, but refrain from receiving Holy Communion until you are fully instructed in the teachings of the Catholic Church. You are in my prayers.

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
