Am I getting this right?
My extremely short summaries:
Carmelite spirituality is, to a large extent, about detachment from worldly things. That seems to be my understanding based on people like St. Therese and finding bitterness in all things in order to become more attached to Jesus.
In contrast, Ignatian spirituality is about finding God in all things. So it’s about finding the good in all things and doing so to see how much God loves you in order to become more closely united to Jesus.
AFAICT, these two spiritualities are polar opposites in how to get closer to God, while ending up at the same spot.
Also, I know Ignatian spirituality places a lot of emphasis on the Sacred Heart of Jesus (and Mary’s Immaculate Heart). Do the Carmelites? I’m not very familiar with them besides St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
Just wondering.
