It has morphed into Catholic/SDA Discussions. As long as no one minds, I say lets just keep it going from one issue to another. It is so much less complicated than changing threads with each new issue.

As long as you, the OP, don’t mind. Have at it kids.😃

I have followed the Amazing Facts television show and even go to the website and watch some of their stuff. I have to say that SDA is really really confused about just about all their doctrines. Have any of them actually read the book of Leviticus or Deuteronomy? The very act of starting a car is against the Sabbath laws, broadcasting a television show is breaking the sabbath. When exactly was the last member of the SDA stoned to death for breaking the Sabbath, or cast out of the congregation? By not flately opposing abortion they are condoning it. The way in which they interpret prophecy is simply ludicris. The mark of the beast is NOT worshipping on Sunday. Go back and actually READ the BIBLE! The beast is a MAN not a postion ie; the pope. Re-read the wedding at Cana, Jesus changed water into wine NOT grape juice. The spokesman on the SDA website has read too much of “The Two Babalyons” with little or no discernment evident.
Sadly the SDA wants to try legalism again and drag all Christians back to the Jewdizers that fought with Saint Paul and lost. Again reread your Bible Saint Paul clearly says we are no longer bound by the othodox jewish laws, including the dietary ones. And a careful examination of the literature regarding the switch from Saturday to Sunday worship will show that Christ was and is the fullfillment of the Old Testament. I won’t even bother to refute the nonsense the SDA preach about the Holy Virgin. I pray for my SDA ‘brothers’ that they will read the early church fathers and the Bible and that one day they to will be welcomed in Jesus’ one true church.👍

Wow, things sound pretty hot in Wyoming! But you know; I am acquainted with some good Catholic folks who are very legalistic too. It seems to be a cross-denominational affliction.

You know, if this were in person; and I could see your face as you said all this, I would ask you to pray the prayer of St Francis with me. (I hope this helps clarify some of the issues you have raised. 🙂

If they are SDA their intention will be to try to convert you. I’m a former SDA.

You should know they have some very anti-catholic beliefs which they do not share upfront, including that the papacy is the anti-christ and the Catholic church is the beast of revelation.

Their method of bible study is to string together verses from various parts of the bible to support their theories. They call it letting the bible interpret the bible, but its more like a scavenger hunt to find bits and pieces to string together in ways that suit them. They claim various dates in history corraborate their conclusions, but if you actually look at their claims from authentic historical sources, the impression of a perfectly lined up prophetic dateline falls apart.

You are welcome to msg me if you have questions.

I wouldn’t let them in the door personally unless you are really wanting to engage them in a discussion. They train to answer typical Catholic objections to their teachings.

I’ve come across SDA literature in the past and noticed they hide their denominational affiliation (unlike JW literature, which is pretty up front about who they are).

Prayer is,indeed, the best response. This situation of trying to figure out how it all fits together is rampant throughout Christendom in our day. Everyone who has rejected the Magesterium finds themselves in this situation. They must rely upon their own ideas, or the guidance coming from man-made traditions. God bless them, because there are many of them that are more fervent about their faith than those who have the guidance put in place by Jesus.

Once a person rejects the Apostolic Traditions they are in a sea of wandering. It was this situation that Jesus was preventing by authorizing the Apostles to teach, and to pass on their authority to their successors. We can see in the book of Acts how the HS worked through the council of Jerusalem to resolve these doctrinal matters. This is God’s way of keeping the Church on track.

This is a great idea! Let’s all do it together. 👍

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Applying that logic the Levitical Priests would not have been able to perform their Temple duties on the Sabbath. Christ even said doing good on the Sabbath was not breaking the Sabbath. You tell the SDA to read Leviticus and Deuteronomy, I suggest you read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Those punishment are now God’s perogative. When the Judgment comes he will dole them out as he sees fit. We each will have to account for our deeds and they will all be reveal. And I think you will find plenty of SDA members who “flatly” oppose abortion, just as there are probably RCs who support abortion for certain reasons.

You seem to think that the interpretation that the SDA movement has accepted is their’s and their’s alone. What they teach goes back way before the SDA was ever a movement. Of course those who taught this first you would never accept either since it was they who demanded a reform in the Church and were cast out as heretics.

What the SDA’s advocate is not “Legalism” you may want to call it that in an attempt to excuse your disobedience to God, but that is not what it is. The focus on the Moral Laws is the show of Love for God, has nothing to do with being legallistic but everything to do with the relationship with God. You love God, keep his commandments.

As for the dietary laws, they are not required as you make it sound. Following the dietary laws is a voluntary choice. It is stressed however that certain foods are not good for human consumption, which science has shown this to be true. Therefore, SDAs have chosen to take that which was taught in the OT concerning dietary laws and apply them to their daily lives. Niether the keeping of the Law nor the adhering to Dietary laws are going to save us. That is done only throught the Grace of God througn the sacrificial blood of his Son Jesus The Christ.

As there is already a thread concerning the Sabbath we need not go into that here.

As for fulfilling the OT, I can only assume that your are refering to the OT Laws, of which there are two sets, the Laws, written by God and the Ordinances, written by Moses. The Laws written by God were also included in the Ordinances written by Moses, but they were also seperate, kept in a seperate place from the Ordinaces. Of course, this seems to be a bit confusing to many people so they insist that there is no seperation of the two. They desire to say that the commandments of God are eternal and should be kept, until the Fourth commandment is mentioned and then all of a sudden it is not necessary to keep it. If it was one of the Ten and none of the others have changed why would this one change. God does not Change, the commandments don’t change, Christ fulfilled the Law by keeping the Law, he did not do away with it, but magnified it. It is still valid, it is still there, all ten.

God knows his true Church, and when the time comes he will gather them to him.

In Christ

No, there were many holy and obedient persons who called for reform, and because of the sanctity in which they did so, were later recognized as saints. There were those who were quick to take up the complaints of Luther, and the countereformation was effective in addressing these.

Those what were cast out as heretics were the ones who changed the Apostolic Teaching, and introduced “a different gospel” than what was handed down to us.

I agree with you, having known many fervent and obedient SDA’s. However, one of those commandments was to be in unity with the Apostles, which the SDA’s are not.
Code:

At least we are in agreement on this essential element. 👍

It is very Catholic of you to say this. 👍
God knows his true Church, and when the time comes he will gather them to him.
The time now is!

As He said, He built His Church upon this rock, and the gates of hell have not prevailed, for He is mighty.

that should be adventist.welcome him they are good people speaking good truth;)

I agree that most are good people…but what is the good truth that they speak to which you refer?

God bless all!!!

Hi Protestant101, 👋

I see that WyomingBob had some points you couldn’t answer. I noticed how you avoided them and sugar coated your response! 👍 Nice dodge, but it didn’t work!:rolleyes: You do realize that “Catholic” isn’t a denomination it is the Christian church.
Protestant groups are broken down into 61,000 demoninations of Protestants. The two Sections are Christians and Protestants! You can not protest against Christs teachings and claim to also be a follower! Well you could, but then real Christians would have to remind you that you were only liars, not followers!
**

You know, if this were in person; and I could see your face as you said all this, I would ask you to pray the prayer of St Francis with me.

But my friend, In your opinion, our St Francis is marked with the sign of the beast! Wouldn’t that make you a hyprocrite? **
**
False teachings and corrupt groups who believe they are Christians are rampant. Many Catholics want to embrace people who claim to be christians because the bible tells us to “love one another” . They don’t realizing that these groups aren’t really Christians. That every false belief system is OK is called being “lukewarm.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t like taking a bath in lukewarm water… it has to be nice and hot for me. Also, I don’t like drinking lukewarm drinks, I like it a bit cold if I’m drinking a cold Beer, or I like it hot if I’m drinking coffee. * Jesus didn’t like lukewwarm things either: "So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, I am rich and plentiful and have need of nothing. And you know not that you are wretched, and pitiable, and poor, and blind, and naked. I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, so that you may be plentiful, and white-robed. In order that you be completely clothed, and the shame of your nakedness not be revealed. And smear your eyes with eye plaster, that you may see” ~ Rev. 3:15-18.

[SIGN] **One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. ~Romans 14:5-6 **

**So even scripture disagrees with your cults beliefs! Poor SDA cult member who is pretending to be a real Protestant,:bighanky: But then again, you also pretend to be very legalistic, like Ellen G. White, who ate meat whille claiming she didn’t! :rolleyes:

You are loved. :hug3: You are still a child of God, even if you aren’t a Christian following Christ as Jesus taught! :console:

God Bless**

I completely agree.

I would buy a Catechism if you don’t have one ($15 USD) and set it beside you with a NASV Bible.

Then when needed, refer to the Catechism, only use its words not your own, do not say “I feel.”

Be kind but authoritative with your words and mannerism.

Don’t show any sign of doubt in your Church or your God, not in words or body language.

Again, at the utmost, be kind and listen; but do not show any sign of doubt (even if you may have some). Refer only to the Catechism if points are brought up that are in direct opposition of the Catholic faith. If you don’t know, admit it. But again, be careful not to make this a point of weakness, but of strong faith.

Do what God gives you to do. If God tells you that you are not to take this on at all, then do not. If He tells you to do it, then do it. Pray about it, earnestly. Messing with your faith is not something you want to take lightly. I have a feeling you will come out of this stronger than weaker, and you will be the better for it… But that is only my feeling. Let God’s will be done! 🙂
😦 Times will come when by killing SDA members your priests will make it a holy thing, thinking they serve God, just like in the past. The blind leading the blind, why do you read your Catechism which is written by a man? The Bible is the only truth, for it was written by the spirit of God. Why do you make your Pope like a “God on Earth” ? And why do you pray to Mary? Is she not just a mortal woman? Is not Jesus the only one we should worship? Were not the Ten Commandments WRITEN and SPOKEN by God himself before thousands of Israel? Why then your Man-made Catechism abolishes the second and the fourth commandment?
The truth will set you free if you read this: amazingfacts.org/FreeStuff/BibleStudies/StudyGuides/tabid/105/Default.aspx

Why do you read all the stuff EGW, false prophetess, wrote? She was only a woman, and the Bible specifically says not to be taught by women. You follow EGW like a “God on Earth” and she’s dead. When you leave your man made religion, come back and find fault with our God given religion.
