I know the Church teaches that we cannot definitively know the eternal destiny of any particular individual (the cannonized excepted, natch), nor can we predict the eventual eternal destiny of any person now living.

What I’m curious about is this: What’s your best guess (again, GUESS; we don’t and can’t know) about the eternal destiny of those living in the USA on December 10, 2006?

Why?

Well, Penny, given that we cannot (indeed should not) know or predict anyone’s destiny (though we are more than welcome to pray for ourselves and others, as well as to do penance and other good works), this question of yours is at best idle speculation and at worst a near occasion of sin leading to questionable judgments, risk of error, lack of charity, etc.

Now that is just my opinion. You asked my guess and you asked why. . .so that is my ‘guess’–that I won’t presume to guess–and also my reason.

God bless.🙂

In America, I hardly know who my neighbors are  - never mind about the entire country - but praying for all is always a thing we should do no matter if it is America or other places.

Our Lady tells us that most folks end up in Purgatory, the next most go to Hell and much fewer go directly to Heaven.

My guess is that Americans are like most folks, so most will go to Purgatory and end up evenutally in Heaven.

I voted “don’t know”. I would like to go to heaven, although I understand I will be spending quite some time in Purgatory. I pray for the Church Suffering on a daily basis. 😦

It is impossible for us to know for sure who is going where. I really don’t think that it does a whole lot of good to speculate on it, either. The important thing is to pray for everyone.

It is certainly not possible for us to determine if someone has gone to Hell. However, we can look at someone life and make some educated guesses. (not judgements!)

My guess is that most people are headed lower. This is based on the vact that most people have rejected the Church.

But then that has always been the case.

Where has she said this? And if most people go to Heaven via purgatory doesn’t that kinda go against Our Lord’s statement that ‘strait is the way and narrow the gate that leads to life’?

I hope everyone is going to Heaven, maybe with a stop over in Purgatory 🙂 I say prayers for the dying who will be going to Hell every day, and I have faith that many who look to be “lost” will be given the grace of conversion at the last moment. I do believe that people go to Hell though 😦
