What are American Catholics?
Which means they are protestants. Don’t be fooled by the name!If you are referring to the “American Catholic Church” they are a group of “independent Catholics” (an oxymoron) who are loosly affiliated with the Old Catholics who split from the Catholic Church following the 1st Vatican Council.

Agreed. I suppose you can’t call them protestant simply because they protest against communion with Rome. But they are surely not Catholic. Let me ask you this. Once this generation of bishops are deceased, will they still have valid sacraments since these bishops will not have the authority to ordain other clergy?Mickey,
Not so fast there, kimosabe! For the most part they have valid sacraments since they have a valid line of succession through the Old Catholic line. They are simply not in communion with Rome. Protestants do not, in general, have valid sacraments.

Dear Judeluke,Yes, I was referring to the American Catholic Church. One American Catholic Church chapel was advertising at a recent bridal show as the perfect place to hold a Traditional Catholic wedding for non-traditional Catholics?
