What’s the buzz on AI? Does anyone here support them? Is there a reason one shouldn’t?

Thanks.

I do in a limited way, especially in refugee matters. I wouldn’t get involved in any cases that offended my morals or ethics.

They at least potentially could, for example, end up supporting pro-abortionists or suchlike which of course is contrary to Catholic teaching. I’m not particularly aware of any cases where they have done so, but their philosophy means it’s at least possible.

I support them with letter writing campaigns and other activities rather than financial aid to better direct my actions to cases that I am happy supporting.

Apparently the organization is considering whether it should officially adopt a pro-choice stance (it has been neutral on the matter). The U.S. bishops conference has warned it not make the change, but the International Council of Amnesty International will issue its decision during its August 2007 meeting.

I’ve been concerned about the choice issue and Amnesty. I guess time will tell. I’ve been interested in supporting them but I think I’ll wait. Thank you.
