This article talks about how marriage is dying in Northern Europe and especially in France. Reading the article, it’s striking how selfish and individualistic many of these individuals are in regards to their rationale for not wanting to get married (yet living together and having children).

A lot of it I suppose, is a lack of understanding of what marriage really is. So many people have seen marriages break up, or marriages with no children through choice or lesbian /gay partnerships, that they really have no concept of the purpose of it. Marriage seems to be a big wedding with all the trimmings, so if you don’t want that fuss then what is it all for?
